Foothills Community Midwives is a department founded through Boulder Community Health. This innovative organization is a community-owned nonprofit healthcare system. It’s their passion to make sure every individual within the area has care that works for them. While the midwives are a part of the OB-GYN department, they work one-on-one with their patients and offer them options personalized to them. They specialize in holistic care and will work with you to create your perfect birth experience.
Services
The Foothills Community Midwives offer comprehensive prenatal care to moms experiencing a low-risk pregnancy. They take a collaborative approach, forging a relationship with the OB-GYN department through Boulder Medical Center. Not only does this allow them to get a second opinion if they ever need it, but it also gives you additional resources should you need to transfer care at any point. Your midwife is going to work with you to create your perfect birth plan.
They spend plenty of time with you through each appointment, getting to know what you want your experience to look like. They will then make sure you have all the tools and knowledge you need to make this a reality! Throughout your labor, they will serve as your greatest advocate, offering holistic therapies and minimizing any interventions. Once your baby is born, they can help you as you initiate feeding and care for you through those first few hours of the postpartum stage.
Specialty
When you use the Foothills Community Midwives, you will deliver your baby in the Family Birth Center through Foothills Hospital. This center is committed to ensuring your experience is absolutely positive! You will have access to several tools, including queen-size beds and hydrotherapy tubs. Each room is equipped with birth balls and squat bars, and you can choose to use aromatherapy or acupuncture throughout. They also have nitrous oxide and can provide you with an epidural if you do decide on medicated pain relief. The hospital is a baby-friendly designation and will support you with breastfeeding. Should you need it, they have a special care nursery in collaboration with Children’s Hospital Colorado.
