Newborn & Baby Sessions

Newborn & Baby Session FAQ

When is the best time to schedule my newborn session? Newborn sessions are best scheduled before baby arrives to be sure there is availability and that your precious little girl/boy gets in the studio in the first three weeks of life.  Once your session fee is received then I will book your due date on my calendar knowing your newborn can be born or late.  I never book everyday of my week to be sure to get all my newborns in there and to provide the highest customer service I can to my clients.  Once your little one has arrived I ask parents to email or call me as soon as possible so we can get your actual session date scheduled.

Do the newborn sessions really need to occur in the first three weeks? Yes!  Newborns change so quickly and are exhausted after being born and all the new changes for them making it the perfect time to get those curled up sweet poses.  After three weeks newborns become much more alert and begin to have more awake times making it harder to get those sleepy photos.  My favorite days to photograph newborns are days 6-12.  However if your baby is older than three weeks don’t hesitate to contact me there is never a bad time to photograph your little ones!  I have been doing this for a long time and I am comfortable going beyond three weeks if needed.

What is the cost for Newborn Sessions? The newborn session fee is $175 which includes my time and talent to photograph, post-process 25-30 images and a private password protected online gallery that can be shared with friends and family.  Your gallery will be available for making orders within two weeks of your session date and online for ordering for fourteen days from the release date.  All prints, products, digitals, and Collections are in addition to the session fee.  Prints start at $45 al a carte for anything 8×12 and smaller, Digital Collections (most popular collections) start at $550 up to $950 and Print Collections start at $550 and offer substantial savings over al a carte pricing.

What can I expect the day of our newborn session? Newborn sessions are best within the first three weeks of birth with days 6-12 being my favorite.  Sessions occur at my studio located at 1550 S. Acoma St., Denver, CO 80223 located near Platte Park Neighborhood.   Most sessions begin around 9:00-9:30am M-F.  I have a very comfortable studio space with changing table, diapers, wipes, nursing area, boppy, etc…. in other words if you forget something I most likely have it here for you!  Sessions are 3-4 hours this depends on babies disposition they are all so different and already have built in personalities!  If we are going to be photographing families and siblings I do like to do these photos at the end of the session.

Do you take Family and Sibling Pictures? YES!  This is entirely up to you and is personal preference but yes I most certainly take photos of family and siblings!

What should we wear if doing family photos? This depends on the look that you would like if you are looking for a very classic traditional look then I suggest wearing solid black/gray short sleeve tops and jeans and women in solid black maxi, halter, or spaghetti strap dresses. Now if you want something a little different from the traditional look  I personally love soft colors for family photos as well and even a little pattern thrown in there. Either way I love men in jeans and women in dresses (that show a little skin on the shoulder and arms) for family photos with newborns.

Where do all the cute hats, headbands, blankets come from in your photos? I supply all the newborn props.  I have an enormous amount of hats, headbands, blankets, backgrounds, furs, baskets, crates, etc….  Some might actually say I have a bit of a newborn shopping problem!!  All of my props are specifically made to fit newborns in the first three weeks of life.  If you have something that you would like to incorporate in your images just let me know.
