If you follow me here or on Facebook I am constantly posting my newborn photo sessions! But I do photograph kids too!! I get to photograph these two every year and every year I fall in love with their photos. Yes, they are very comfortable with me and that can actually makes things a bit harder but their photo sessions always turn out to be some of my favorite kid photos!
I am going to be honest here Hayden was one of my hardest newborns yet for her photo session. At ten days of age she already had an intense need to be held and swaddled. I would hold her and she would be sound asleep and then the moment I placed here down she would wake right up, reminded me of my own daughter! In the end though some of her photos are my favorite of all time. She challenged me which was really a good thing because I had to figure out what was going to make her happy and I am in love with her photos and her absolutely adorable cheeks. The cheeks always get me!
Six and half pounds of squish on this baby! She was so stinkin cute and had the most delicate features and perfect cheeks. She was a squirming one too, I would get her into her pose and she would squirm right out the second I picked up my camera but all her cuteness made up for the extra work. As a mom myself the close ups, details, and profile photos of newborns are my favorite! Newborns lose these features so quickly as they start to fill out, each time I complete an image gallery for my new parents I am happy for them and so sad I don’t have images like this of my own children. Could be why I am so passionate about newborn photography. If I could go back and do it all over these are the portraits I would not have missed out on getting. Don’t get me wrong I have photos but not like these images.

I have been having so much fun with my recent newborn photo sessions since coming back from Kelley Ryden and Tracy Raver’s newborn workshop. I can see the improvement and am so excited to continue improving. I look at my posing and styling so much differently now. This was one of my first newborns after the workshop and I have had several since and each session improves, there are so many tricks to many of these poses and even camera angles but you wouldn’t know it because the images themselves appear to be so simple.

I just had to do a quick share from this session. I am so excited about his photos, I made a new background which I am loving and one of my friends helped to repurpose one of my sweaters into these adorable little baby pants. Brendan is six months old and was the happiest and cutest baby today for his photo session. I love photographing this age, he didn’t roll, crawl or try to run away from me!! His smile is absolutely infectious. More to come later.
I just had one of the most amazing experiences over the weekend. I went to Omaha, Nebraska to learn from the industries best newborn photographers and cannot wait to apply all the new posing techniques I learned. Here are just two images from the workshop I took, Kelley and Tracy beautifully styled and posed but otherwise these are shot, composed and edited by me. I will share more soon when life isn’t as crazy right now I need to take my son to the doctor, poor guy broke his arm last week and had to have surgery! Nutty crazy busy week last week!!!
